While we did not ever thought we would be making bike racks when we started Tanaka, making bicycles more practical and capable has always been priority #1.
This new rack is a special one designed especially (but not only for) mounting a wired basket. For many decades there have been baskets for bikes... Wicker baskets that mount to your bars... Wire baskets that mount to your bars and fork axle. In recent years, wire baskets that don't have built-in mounting struts have become popular with enthusiasts. Built-in struts often could not fit more modern bikes or didn't have the stiffness needed for every day commuting use. Cyclists found mounting a rack directly to a well designed front or rear racks (using zip-ties) was a more workable solution. If you didn't want to have a heavy basket for a certain ride, you could just snip off the zip-ties.
With the Lift-Loc, we aimed to make things even easier and safer (Zip-ties can age and fail over time). We added small clamps to allow fastening and removing a basket.
The Lift-Loc holds the basket at three points including the back side. It is adaptable to fit different wire placements, a must-have since wire baskets can differ a lot.
The rack itself is very sturdy with 4 solid aluminum rods, so you could mount it on up to 4 bosses on your fork leg. The rods/stay are very long and angle adjustable to fit most fork designs.
